About Me:

I’m Emily – Start Up support worker for the Abbey Bucknall area. I have been with the project for around 10 months now supporting parents back into some form of training and personal development. Before joining StartUp I worked for almost 2 years in Community Development with SureStart.

In some ways I find the job quite similar as I am working with mostly the same parents only now on more of an individual basis rather than in group situations. I also live in the Abbey Bucknall area with my family so lots of people are already quite familiar with me and I think that makes me more approachable.

. I love going out into the community and meeting new people, getting to know them and their families. I find my job can be quite rewarding especially when I see people progress into confident individuals who want to go on and learn more and move forward in their lives – you really do see people change for the better.
