StartUp Citywide

The Aim of the Project

The main aim of the project is to increase opportunities by encouraging/
supporting parents to take part in training and move on into employment.

Who is it for?

Parents with children age 0-16 who live in Stoke-on-Trent. This project will engage clients with a whole range of differing needs. Clients can be referred to the projects by: self-referral, referral from Sure Start or referral from other organisations.

When the client engages with the project the support Worker will follow a process:

Visit the client at home or at a venue chosen by the client

Assess the client’s needs

Signpost – to relevant organisations that can help clients overcome barriers they may be facing

Engage clients in social events such as Fun Days, Drop-ins and Stay & Play sessions.

Engage clients on half day courses and taster sessions such as creative, educational & academic courses

Invite clients to Drop-in sessions, this allows parents to socialise and gain knowledge and advice.

Give employment support

Tracking – we also provide a tracking service for clients. Clients are contacted each month to ensure everything is still ok.

Help with filling in application and funding forms and writing a CV

Provide a free course finder service
