Early Years First Aid


Course Description

Developed and delivered by St.John Ambulance this new style course reflects the needs of the modern workplace. This is a practical ‘hands-on’ course which is flexible to meet individual needs.

This course is designed for people who work in the care of those who are under the age of 8 and are covered by the OFSTED National Standards and covers the following:

• Allergic reaction
• Head injuries
• Asthma
• Heat & cold extremes
• Bites & stings
• Low blood sugar
• Bleeding – sever
• Poisons, gases & fumes
• Bleeding & bruising
• Primary survey
• Bone, muscle & joint injury
• Rescue breaths
• Burns & scalds
• Shock
• Childhood conditions
• Seizures in children
• Choking (age appropriate)
• Seizures
• Communications & casualty care
• Role of the First Aider in an Early Years setting
• CPR (age appropriate)
• Sprains & strains
• Eye injury
• Unconscious casualty
• Foreign objects


Additional Information

Duration: 2 consecutive days (12 hours long, assessed throughout the course).
